Throughout the year Wiltshire Community Foundation delivers a range of advice sessions and training workshops designed to improve your funding knowledge and skills in order to make your project and organisation a success.  Below you will find a list of our forthcoming events in Wiltshire along with a number of useful links. Advice Sessions

On a monthly basis we offer free 1:1 advice sessions for voluntary groups in Wiltshire. We are able to give advice from setting up your group through to governance, fundraising and opportunities for grants. Our next advice sesssions can be booked online here: Advice Sessions

Training Workshops & Events

Our training workshops and networking events focus on specific areas from funding, governance and finance.   • Voluntary Action Swindon - Voluntary Action Swindon is the local development organisation (CVS) in Swindon. VAS is a charity that supports the development of a vibrant, effective and influential voluntary and community sector locally.  VAS also provides a wide range of services including funding advice, training, room hire and printing facilities.
  • Wessex Community Action  - Wessex Community Action provides help, advice, training and support to community and voluntary organisations in the Wessex area.
  • Wiltshire Council Community & Environment -  Wiltshire Council aim to be a transparent council with strong links to local communities helping people identify their aspirations and priorities.  More information here about Local Area Boards, Local Youth Networks and campus developments.
  • Community First - Community First is Wiltshire's Rural Community Council, a charity that works at the forefront of community development to help improve the quality of life and economic well being of people and local communities throughout Wiltshire and Swindon.  They work in close partnership with local communities, voluntary organisations, statutory agencies and funders to help develop and deliver wide ranging community programmes that bring social, economic and environmental benefits to local people in Wiltshire and Swindon.

National Support

  • The Charity Commission - The Charity Commission register and regulate charities in England and Wales, to ensure that the public can support charities with confidence.  They register eligible organisations in England and Wales which are established for only charitable purposes, take enforcement action when there is malpractice or misconduct, ensure charities meet their legal requirements, including providing information on their activities each year, make appropriate information about each registered charity widely available and provide online services and guidance to help charities run as effectively as possible.
  • Small Charities Coalition - The Small Charities Coalition is a national organisation which supports charitable organisations with an annual income of less than £1million. Their website brings together information from many sources to help small charities set up and run their organisations.  Resources include advice on governance, fundraising, and finance, as well as links to training and other services.  
  • NCVO - NCVO champions the voluntary sector and volunteering. They connect, represent and support voluntary organisations.  Each day, millions of people make a difference to the causes they believe in through voluntary organisations and volunteering.  They connect, represent and support voluntary organisations, from the smallest community groups to the largest charities.  They support voluntary organisations by generating and identifying the best knowledge and expertise.
