Science Museum Group Wroughton Solar Park Community Benefit Fund - Small Grant

Wiltshire Community Foundation are delighted to announce this new funding programme from Science Museum Group Wroughton Solar Park.  The solar park started to generate solar power in July 2016 and has now released its first funds to benefit the community in the surrounding area.  

Science Museum Group Wroughton Solar Park Community Benefit Fund Small Grant supports projects which will improve the lives of people living in the parish areas of:  

  • Wroughton
  • Chiseldon
  • Clyffe Pypard
  • Broad Town
  • Broad Hinton
  • Ogbourne St George
  • Ogbourne St Andrew
  • Aldbourne
  • Baydon

Grants up to £2,000 for 1 year and can be used for capital or revenue costs.

Who can apply? - registered or non-registered charities and community groups with the following:

  • a bank account with at least two unrelated signatories
  • an independent management group of at least 3 individuals based in Swindon or Wiltshire
  • a constitution
  • less than 12 months running costs in unrestricted reserves
  • an Equal Opportunities Statement
  • if relevant, a Child Protection Policy (under 18 years) or Vulnerable People Policy (over 18 years) and procedures

Social enterprises (including Community Interest Companies) can apply providing they have:

  • have a social purpose and are owned and run by their communities
  • are limited by guarantee
  • have at least three unconnected Directors, the majority of whom are not paid
  • have an asset lock clause that ensures funds and assets are transferred to a body with charitable objects on closure of the CIC
  • have a system to ensure decisions on Directors’ remuneration are not taken by those Directors receiving remuneration

Closed - next grant round will take place in 2020.
