#iwill Fund

The #iwill fund is a UK-wide campaign that aims to make social action part of life for as many young people as possible by 2020. Youth social action has huge potential to create enjoyable opportunities and skills development for young people, benefitting local people and places. The aim of this grant is to support social action activities that create opportunities for young people aged 10-20 to develop their potential and their capacity to significantly contribute to their community. Social action involves activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering and has huge potential to create enjoyable opportunities and skills development for young people, and in turn benefit the local people and places.

Grants of £1,000 – £5,000 are available for one off events or projects that last up to 12 months

Criteria - The #iwill fund is open to community groups that will promote volunteering, fundraising and campaigning amongst young people aged between 10 and 20 (25 years for young people with disabilities).

Who can apply? - The fund is open to registered charities, constituted community groups and other charitable organisations in Wiltshire and Swindon. Social Enterprises and CICs may also apply, subject to our normal restrictions on funding to such organisations (click here to see our grant criteria for groups)

Themes and outcomes - Projects do not have to be led by a youth group but applications must demonstrate that their project can meet the following:

  1. Challenging - Taking the young people out of their comfort zone, whilst keeping the activities fun and enjoyable
  2. Youth-led - Young people are taking a lead in decision making and creating ideas for the project
  3. Socially Impactful - The project has clear benefit to the community
  4. Progressive - There is a knowledge of your local area and how the project can link in with existing activities
  5. Embedded - A sustainable project giving lasting skills that can be used throughout life
  6. Reflective - The young people are able to look back on the project and evaluate their experiences

Priority will be given to projects that:

  • Seek to increase participation from young people from less affluent social economic groups and young people who might not usually take part in volunteering, campaigning and fundraising activities
  • Are working with young people at the younger end of the spectrum (10-14 years old)
  • Build the appetite of young people to continue with campaigning, fundraising and/or volunteering and leave a legacy of behaviour/activity after the funding stops
  • Involve young people in consultation, planning, delivery and evaluation
  • Give young people the opportunity to learn new skills and develop their potential and confidence
  • Give young people the platform to get their voice heard
  • Can address the six principles of Youth Social Action (see the 6 themes and outcomes listed above)
