Meet the Youth Funder

Helping those who help our young people

Wiltshire Community Foundation hosted a one day conference for voluntary and community groups at the Corn Exchange, Devizes on Wed 8th July.  ‘Meet the Youth Funder’ was an opportunity for groups working with children and young people from all over Wiltshire and Swindon to come face to face with funders such as Heritage Lottery Fund and The Blagrave Trust and put questions directly to them.  The day also included two practical workshops for groups around creating better applications and improving their impact reporting.  Guest speakers included William Wyldbore-Smith, Wiltshire Community Foundation Trustee, Jo Wells, Director of The Blagrave Trust and Philippa Davies, South West Development Officer for Heritage Lottery Fund.

Feedback from those attending the day included:

  • “Great networking opportunity. It was great to put a face to a name to funders who generously support us, with the opportunity to ask them questions that you wouldn't normally be able to.”
  • “Being able to talk to the funders and ask questions as well as learning about the different funding programmes. And also the great networking with other organisations and realising that you are not alone.”
  • “Talking to people around the table was enlightening and encouraging.”

Rosemary Macdonald, Chief Executive of Wiltshire Community Foundation said, “This was a fantastic opportunity for groups with a shared interest to network and learn from each other, as well as hear in person from funders.  92% of those who responded to feedback felt it was good value and 96% said it should be repeated.”
