The Rupert Smith Memorial Fund

Barry and Liz Smith created The Rupert Smith Fund in memory of their son who died aged 19.  Rupert was a keen musician and sportsman.

The family also have close links with the local church.  The Fund, therefore, gives grants to small, local charities and voluntary groups that are working with disadvantaged young people in the areas of music, sport and Christian activities.

Each year family and friends contribute to the fund which to date has been able to make grants of £35,000 supporting young people with the same interests as Rupert.

"Wiltshire Community Foundation makes things so easy for us to direct the funding to local causes in need of support. I hate detail and paperwork, the Community Foundation takes all that away from my wife and me.  Further, they are very easy and straightforward to deal with.  I couldn’t recommend a better system.”
