Wiltshire and Swindon Welcome Fund

The Welcome Fund raises money to support all refugees and asylum seekers who are starting new lives in Wiltshire and Swindon.

About The Fund

In October 2021 we launched the Welcome Fund to raise money to support people from Afghanistan as well as refugees and asylum seekers from other countries who are starting new lives here in Wiltshire and Swindon.

Funds will support local voluntary sector and community groups to deliver a range of assistance and practical activities to support resettlement, community cohesion and help build futures for refugees and asylum seekers in our communities. Some of this will include: routes to education and employment, language skills and physical and mental health support.

While called the Welcome Fund, we acknowledge that refugees and asylum seekers need more than initial emergency support. Our Fund is a long-term initiative and will also support projects and activities to aid the overall integration of those newly arrived in our county, enabling them to feel welcomed, valued and active members of our communities across Wiltshire and Swindon.

Ukraine Update 17/05/22

We are deeply concerned and saddened by the situation in Ukraine. We stand in solidarity with the country and its people and the 33 Ukrainian Community Foundation who are still actively supporting people across the country and those in bordering nations. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the conflict. Our Welcome Fund is ready to support community groups and charities in Wiltshire and Swindon providing assistance to refugees from Ukraine in our county when needed and will be actively calling for donations for this once the need and scale is established.

We will keep this page updated as the situation develops across Wiltshire and Swindon.

In the meantime, if you wish to offer support to people affected by the conflict in Ukraine details of local and national charities and organisations providing assistance are available on Wiltshire Council's website here and Swindon Council's website here. You will find details of the DEC Appeal Ukraine Appeal as well as the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
