The Surviving Winter Campaign

EVERY winter 300 people in Wiltshire and Swindon die, simply because they cannot afford to heat their homes.

Across the county over 30,000 people are living in fuel poverty, suffering illness, extreme hardship and isolation and facing the harsh reality of choosing between eating and heating.

This is a choice that no one should be forced to make and together we can change this.

Last year, our Surviving Winter campaign helped 403 individuals and families stay warm and healthy. Working with partner organisations across Wiltshire and Swindon such as Age UK, Aster Living and Citizens Advice we provided grants of £300 to the most vulnerable people suffering fuel poverty in our communities.

This year the need is even greater. Weather experts are already predicting that the 2018/19 winter period will be the coldest we have experienced in years and with energy prices being at their highest level ever we expect more people will find themselves at a financial breaking point.

If you can afford to live comfortably this winter, please consider helping someone from your community who can’t. If you receive the Government’s Winter Fuel Payment and do not really need it, please consider making a donation for the equivalent amount or part of it. If you are not in receipt of the allowance you can still donate to the campaign.

Your support will make a real difference to a vulnerable person suffering fuel poverty in your local community.

Thank you
